Fitters’ Take

Fitters’ Take is a new feature, which we’ll be adding to certain reviews. Club Champion Master Fitters will be sharing their opinions based on what they have seen during fittings.

Our fitter noted the low spin of the Callaway MAVRIK driver and suggested that most golfers don’t need it to cut down on RPM. Fitters often referred to “great forgiveness” as a common theme.

Numerous fitters and clients have been impressed by the better sound quality of the Epic Flash. The fitters were also impressed with the shape, one stating it’s the “best looking Callaway head” in some years.

Finally, one fitter gave very strong, in-depth praise of Callaway’s Flash Face SS20 Technology. He said that every model and loft had a face unique to suit different types of misses. He stated that “we can fit every golfer into a MAVRIK driver.”

Conclusion

The Callaway MAVRIK will be a popular choice for 2020 golf bags due to its new color scheme and improved sound. Even though the basic version should be adequate for all golfers, the standard model is not the best. There are many subtle nuances and nuances beyond what can easily be measured. To find what best suits your swing, don’t hesitate to try Sub Zero’s low-spin Sub Zero version or the extremely forgiving MAX.

This is your final review of the MAVRIK drivers. It’s likely you were expecting Top Gun references. The driver deserves respect. The best and most real call sign that I have ever seen is FUNGUS. Keep it family friendly if you know or want to guess what it stands for in the comments.

The face design required FS2S Titanium, which is a stronger material than traditional titanium and 6g lighter than conventional titanium. This allows for optimal speed, forgiveness, spin toughness, and acceleration.

For fast ball speed and increased MOI, we have added Jailbreak bar connections between the crown and sole. Additionally, the carbon crown is significantly lighter and allows us to distribute weight more efficiently.

A.I. helped design the sophisticated titanium rib system inside of our head that creates a deeper and more enjoyable sound.

Price: $499/ BUY HERE Lofts are 9.5, 10.5, 12, 12 Our take: A medium spin with moderate draw bias will please most abilities. The sole is boosted by a simple 5-gram screw at its rear. A Flash Face SS20 Architecture and Jailbreak Tech for speed are both AI-designed.

ClubTester’s take (5-hdcp): “Love the sound at impact. It’s not too muted or loud. It’s just right. The ball seems to hang on the head and explodes.

Cons

Distance not significantly increased from Callaway Epic Flash

Looks can be disappointing for some

Building on the success of their 2019 Epic Flash driver, Callaway have doubled-down on the use of advanced Artificial Intelligence to create a highly optimized face for their 2020 offerings. The Mavrik range has three variations: the standard, the Sub Zero, and the Max. We’ll focus on the Standard for this review.

Callaway is smarter than the computers it has been building their clubs. Callaway has been able to use some unusual, “Mavrik” thinking because the AI can learn fast and efficiently.

You get a clubface that is optimized for speed. Coupled with the improved aerodynamics of the Mavrik, this is a driver that’s capable of some serious distances.

Even better, Callaway is not willing to sacrifice forgiveness for the Mavrik. Even though it has a lower MOI, the AI is actually more accurate across the face than Epic Flash. This is because, again, the AI allowed designers to take unconventional approaches to determine spin rates and weight distribution.

The club’s acoustics was another area that the AI was assigned to improve. The engineers gave the instructions for it to tune down club sounds to “pleasing” frequencies. While the details are a bit confusing, one thing is certain: it’s an excellent sounding driver.
