The Bose Companion20 speakers are a great choice for smaller brands trying to make their voice heard in a crowded market of desktop speakers.
Speakers such as the portable and wireless Bose Soundlink have seen the company try to appeal to a younger, mass market audience, so the Bose Companion 20 desktop speakers are very much on home turf.

Bose Companion20 speakers are a well-known brand in desktop speaker manufacturing. This is one of the advantages of being a well known and popular brand in the industry.
The desktop speakers allowed the company to reach younger audiences and were a great hit. As Audioreputation reviewed this speaker and placed it on their list of best speakers for Mac. Book Pro, we think it would make an excellent addition to your desktop.
Now let's look more closely at the Bose Companion-20 desktop speakers.

When it comes to music speakers, I'm too picky. Other Bose speakers are Dali, B&W and 3 HT receivers. Bose speakers are not the best, but I wasn't happy with their sound. Although they had all their great points, I didn't think any had "everything", as you can see.

Continue reading pinging in to these are a a2.0 system. After listening to them, I suspected there might have been something underneath or behind the speakers that was amplifying their sound. I tried to eliminate the sound by moving them around. This never took place. They arrived in my home and were immediately purchased. These speakers are among the best I've ever heard. The speakers are simply amazing. It is clear and punchy, but not muddy. The sound stays clear at all volumes, even at maximum volume. But, when the protection circuit is activated, sometimes the sound may sound missing. This prevents distortion and protects speakers. But not to worry as you will never need them to be at full volume, they are very loud at half way! Bose should have charged more, but they're still amazing at $369 per pair. Bose do not charge for these speakers. Phone: These speakers are less expensive and better than those you have. Bose lifestyle t20 system is also great, I just prefer companion 20s to music. You don't need to pay a lot if you like the sound of them.

Bose is generally not recommended in AV forums like this one.
Here's my scenario.
Need speakers that are connected to computers. Not wanting to use a subwoofer. Speakers need to be placed in stereo on the sides of the monitor. Speakers need to have a small footprint (similar to Companion 20s). – Will likely be using audio. Quest Dragonfly 1.2 DAC in conjunction with the speakers – budget is up to $600 max, for speakers and DAC Please disregard the following 2 points, as they do not contribute to a strictly objective performance/technical review of the product:
– Bose appears to be a brand that is generally not recommended on many AV forums – The relatively weak price-to-performance ratio for Bose products Please provide input only if you have had first-hand experience with the Bose Companion 20 speakers, not any other Bose product.
I have considered the very similar B&W MM-1 speakers. However, they are a no-go for me because of a known issue where the right speaker becomes very warm, to the point of even overheating for some. I just do not wish to have equipment that runs that hot; it is strictly a personal choice.
Feel free to suggest comparable speakers made by different manufacturers, provided you've had experience with Bose Companion 20s.

You can suggest speakers from other manufacturers if necessary (keep in mind the same scenario as above) but only if your experience is with Bose Companion 20s.
Do You Have The Ability To Add A Subwoofer to Bose Companion 220?
Frank, while the Bose Companion20 speaker are not compatible to a subwoofer they do have surprisingly good sound. You can also install a bass module into your speakers. These speakers were created to save space and eliminate the requirement for a sub.

Bose Companion20: When did it come out?
The "Companion 20 system" was unveiled in 2011. It includes two satellite speakers and an electronic control unit, called a "control pod", by Bose. This product remains available for purchase until January 2021.
