  • IKEA retail chain is very popular. They specialize in offering high-quality, affordable furniture and goods for a great price. IKEA’s stores are located all around the world, with a market capitalization of over $58.7B.
  • However, you may be wondering whether IKEA currently trades on the stock market and whether they have any plans to go public. You can find everything that I could!
  • IKEA Stock: Can You Buy IKEA Shares & Will They Go Public? 2022

Is IKEA Going to Stock Market 2022

IKEA is privately owned and is therefore not listed on any stock exchanges as of 2022. IKEA is instead owned by the Stichting INGKA Foundation, which was founded by IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad. Additionally, IKEA has no plans of going public or offering an IPO anytime in the future.

  • Continue reading to learn more about IKEA and its relationship to the stock exchange, as well as the INGKA foundation.
  • IKEA has ever been on the stock market before?

IKEA is not traded on the stock exchange. It is because the INGKA Foundation owns all stock of the company and has since the beginning.

IKEA and the INGKA Foundation are currently held by the Kamprad family, meaning that the business has been handed down for generations, and likely will for many years to come, thus it is unlikely that IKEA will ever enter the stock market.

    How is INGKA structured?

INGKA was founded in 1982 by Ingvar Kamprad, who originally founded the IKEA company back in 1943. The INGKA foundation largely serves to preserve the IKEA corporation within its own hands.

Additionally, a large amount of the INGKA supervisory board is made up of the family of Ingvar Kamprad.

The INGKA group also implements a highly important and useful anti-takeover protection scheme, which protects the company from being taken over by a larger company, either forcibly or willingly.

IKEA will ever go public on the stock market

This is unlikely. IKEA can be considered a privately owned company. Stocks and shares of IKEA are all held solely by the INGKA Foundation. They include members of their family, as well other representatives.

IKEA refuses to let larger corporations take over the business. Hence INGVAR Foundation has implemented an anti-takeover protection scheme, to prevent such a situation from happening.

IKEA Shares can you be bought?

Participating in the stock exchange and purchasing shares has been made much simpler by apps like eToro (Robinhood), and Acorns. These apps allow anybody to join the market.

Due to IKEA’s corporate structure it is not possible to purchase any shares of the IKEA company. Its sole ownership lies with the INGKA Foundation. This prevents it from being sold or shares put on the market.

Is there any competition to IKEA that is on the stock market?

Due to IKEA not publicly trading on the stock market, many stock market investors look to their closest competitors to find worthwhile investments.

Some of IKEA’s most close competitors trade on the Stock Market include:

This company is among the top-valued on the stock markets. Amazon is a company that sells almost everything, at extremely high prices. This makes them a very profitable business. Amazon shares are possible to purchase but may not be cheap.

Much like Amazon, Walmart sells a massive variety of goods, both in-store and online, including furniture, which is IKEA’s entire market base. Walmart’s products are also very affordable and profitable, just like IKEA.

  • Wayfair, an online retailer specializing on home décor and furnishing, was established in 2009. Wayfair’s products are sourced from thousands of different suppliers around the globe, making it a fantastic place to purchase all sorts of furniture. Wayfair is traded publicly on the stock exchange, making it a solid investment to replace IKEA.

  • Conclusion
  • IKEA is not a public company that has traded publicly on the stock exchange since its founding in 1943 by Ingvar Karmad. It is tightly controlled by the INGKA Foundation. This was created by Ingvar, IKEA founder in 1982.

The INGKA Foundation stops hostile takeovers and the company is now 100% owned by the Foundation.

Are Ikea’s public or private properties?

IKEA has been the biggest furniture retailer in the world since 2008, and is now one of the most important privately owned companies worldwide. IKEA’s parent company is a nonprofit foundation, and its complicated corporate structure helps to limit its tax liability.

What is Parlor on the Stock Exchange?

Parler, like I stated above, is a privately-owned company. This means that it cannot be traded on a stock market. Parler may allow you to invest if they raise additional seed capital.
