USPS has been issuing stamped for over a century. You might wonder what expiration dates are for stamps that have been around so long.
So, if there are sheets of stamps sitting around your desk collecting dust, this is the place for you! Learn more about when USPS stamps run out.
What can I do to find out if my USPS stamps are still good?
All you have to do is glance to determine if the stamps of USPS are still in good condition.
If you have “Forever”, printed on your stamps, feel free to put one of these stickers on an envelope. ).
Forever Stamps is “non denominated” postal mail by USPS. The stamps are not tagged with any value to indicate their worth.
Forever Stamps value fluctuates with first-class stamp postage. The current value for first-class stamps will determine the worth of a Forever Stamp.
If you buy Forever Stamps today and postage goes up tomorrow, your stamps will reflect the current value of first-class postage, even though you bought them at a lower price.
USPS offers stamps that include a number (C/) and a cent symbol (C/) in addition to Forever Stamps. There are many denominations available, such as 10C/ or 2C/.
These stamps are available for use whenever you want. However, you’ll need to check the current cost of postage to see how many to use.
After you’ve calculated the postage cost, you can mix as many stamps for as much as you want.
It’s worth noting that stamps with a monetary value may have a year printed on them.
This shows the year USPS adopted the stamp. This has nothing to do the stamp’s expiration date. Similar to Forever Stamps these stamps never expire.
Are Old USPS Stamps Still Acceptable?
Yes, you can. You can use your existing stamps provided that the USPS has validated them as genuine postage.
An envelope is valid if a stamp is intact and clean.
USPS might reject your stamp if the stamp has been damaged. Here are some reasons why your stamp may not be accepted:
Stamps have lost their adhesiveness. The USPS rejects stamps that have been covered in tape or glue.
If you are unsure about an old stamp that is in your junk folder, please bring it to USPS.
How Long are USPS Forever Stamps Valid?
As the name suggests, USPS Forever Stamps have a lifetime validity.
Forever Stamps have no fixed value. This is in contrast to stamps from the past, which were marked with a dollar value. They are instead valued according to USPS postage rates.
When you purchase a Forever Stamp, you’ll pay the current rate for first-class postage.
If you don’t use the stamp for five years and the postage rate goes up (which it undoubtedly will), your Forever Stamp will reflect the current value of first-class postage.
Let us take an example and explain things better. Forever Stamps introduced first-class mailage in 2007. It cost $0.41.
The current cost of the Forever Stamps was $0.58. Forever Stamps bought between 2007 and 2020 have an estimated value of $0.58.
Global Forever(r). Stamps Are Expiring
USPS Global Forever(r), just like the domestic Forever Stamps does not expire.
Global Forever(r), is part of USPS First Class Mail International (r). They’re the most affordable way to send letters and postcards to more than 180 countries including Canada, Great Britain, and Australia.
With one Global Forever(r) stamp, you’re able to send 1oz letters or postcards pretty much anywhere in the world for one flat rate.
Even though postage costs go up, stamps remain valid and can still get mail to where it is needed.
Are USPS Shipping Labels Expired?
Unlike stamps, USPS shipping labels do have an expiration date. The USPS shipping stickers “expire” 28-days after the purchase date.
The official cutoff day is 28 days, however it’s not a strict rule. USPS typically gives you two to three days of grace for shipping labels.
However, every Post Office can exercise its own discretion.
The Postmaster can be contacted if you find labels being refused by the Post Office clerk.
Do not be discouraged if they do not budge. When you buy them, USPS won’t scan the labels.
The tracking numbers are not entered into their system. You can always request a refund from your online shipping software and use the refund to buy a new label.

As a general rule, USPS stamps don’t expire. This is true for both denominational stamps, Forever Stamps, and Global Forever (r) stamps. It shouldn’t be a problem to use your stamps as long they are not damaged or ruined.
USPS postal stamps cannot expire but USPS shipping label technically can. Shipping labels are valid for 28 days from the date of purchase, although you may have a few days or weeks of leeway depending on your local Post Office.
