The TP Link Archer A6 dual-band gigabit router is a great option for budget-minded users. It offers a number of nice features and upgrades at a very affordable price. It features dual 2.4GHz/5GHz bands as well MU-MIMO beamforming. The TP-Link Archer A6 is an affordable upgrade that will make your budget router last a while. The unit is lacking some key features, however the feature set and price are very attractive.
Specifications are not always accurate. I spent five days testing a TP Link Archer A6 plugged in to my network. With a variety of data-hungry device connected to it at the same time, I was able to test its endurance and determine top speeds as well as range.
Wireless performance
The Archer A6 will be tested on a laptop using an AC1200 wirelesscard. We’ll also compare the Archer A7 against it. We will be using Ookla’s Speedtest.net to test to This will be unfair to the Archer A7 as we are not using the full potential of the A7 when using an AC1200 receiver. The majority of devices on the market today only support AC1200, so it will be a more accurate representation of real-world results.
The results are indicated above. This shows that the Archer A6 runs slightly faster when paired with the AC1200 Receiver. This may be because of the Archer A6’s updated wireless chipset and Beamforming support.
When I’m using an AC1750 client, my Archer A7 will beat the Archer A6.
The TP Link Archer A6 router wireless is a good choice. I don’t think any other wireless router can offer the same performance as the Archer A6 at a lower price than the Archer A6. It delivers excellent performance with strong WiFi coverage and stable WiFi performance. Anyone looking for a wireless router with decent performance and a good price should consider this model. The router supports up to 500Mbps Internet and approximately 10 concurrently connected devices.
However, this device does not come with a USB port. If you do not need a USB connection, the TP Link Archer A7 is a good option. We have written about it here.
