When Will The Restrictions Be Lifted?
USPS has not offered an update on when it will lift the restrictions. The USPS has stressed that these restrictions were temporary. It also stated that services will resume at some time, although no timeline was given.
This is likely because the pandemic is proving difficult to predict and is often having long-term impacts that create unexpected results. The USPS cannot provide a timeline that is reliable. It all depends on other infrastructures such as the absence rate, speed at which backlog is cleared and many others.
However, many people are eagerly waiting for the services to be resumed, and it is likely that USPS is doing everything possible to get the shipping options back into place for their customers.
Usps Industry Alerts And News For Australia
Alerts from the US on Australia: Update
The USPS has issued an industry advisory (in effect October 1, 2021), regarding Australia. In the industry alert, USPS says, “Due to COVID-19, international shipping has been suspended to many countries. DMM 604.9.2.3 states that customers can get a complete refund for their postal costs if service is suspended to the destination country.
This followed the original Industry Alert on Australia issued September 1 by USPS, followed by the second Industry Alert on Australia, issued September 15.
Update, January 28, 2022: Australia Post informs you that the disruptions to its day-to-day operations due to severe storms and flooding in Australia are primarily impacting the Northern Territory and South Australia. The processing and delivery of inbound and outbound mail items is affected. Delivery of mail items to Queensland postcodes 4731, 4805 or 4820 (flooded roads), as well as areas 4804-4852 (road closures), are particularly affected.

Usps
USPS is a great option if quick delivery times aren’t a huge priority, and you want the cheapest shipping option. Unlike the other carriers, you will only have to pay a flat rate depending on the USPS mail type and package weight. Dropping off your package at the mailbox is easy. Or, you could visit a local postal office.
One major drawback to using USPS for Australian shipping is that the packages are transferred to Australia Post (the national Australian mailing service) once they arrive in Australia. The USPS order tracking number will not work anymore and you’ll need to wait until a new tracking number is available. Due to the transfer, this can also lead to an additional delivery day.
What does Customs do?
How does your mail or package get through customs?
In the last year, around 650 million pieces of international mail went through the customs to enter the United States, coming from foreign countries. Almost all of this immense quantity of mail is accepted into the US through one of its five International Service Centers (ISC). These five ISCs can be found in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
International Service Centers, (ISCs), distribute international mail from designated areas to certain foreign countries and gateway exchange offices. The International Post Corporation (IPC), Certificate of Excellence has awarded each center recognition for its global leadership in international mail processing. This award, based on a common global standard for excellence in mail processing, is a months-long process involving an operational survey, pre-certification, and the actual certification process.
IPC is an association representing 24 post operators from Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. IPC offers its members systems and programs to ensure international mail delivery is efficient and cost-effective.
