Does Fedex Take Usps? (Returns, Packages, Boxes + More)
FedEx, USPS, UPS – all three shipping companies have their similarities, with copious locations, competitive rates, and the ability to deliver coast to coast.
FedEx and United States Postal Service, in reality, are not competitors. They’re partners that have worked together to provide various services since 2001.
FedEx and USPS have a long-standing partnership. Here’s the solution.
FedEx to Take Over USPS in 2022
FedEx and USPS share no shipping duties outside of their contract agreement. FedEx does occasionally manage USPS mailings that end up in its custody. FedEx can hold USPS mail to be retrieved by them. Both shippers can not be used interchangeably and are therefore not compatible.
FedEx and USPS have a connection?
The confusion that arises with whether FedEx takes USPS or not likely stems from their existing partnership.
FedEx won the USPS contract in 2001 that granted FedEx access and control over the USPS domestic and foreign air fleets.
FedEx received access to the wide range of local delivery services offered by the Postal Service in exchange.
Did you also know that USPS is legally obligated to deliver to any address in the U.S. – regardless of road conditions or weather conditions.
FedEx may find this appealing as the Postal Service’s rural access is the heart of SmartPost.
FedEx ended SmartPost in March 2021 and cut off this portion of their partnership with USPS.
What happens to a USPS Pack accidentally placed in FedEx Dropbox
FedEx doesn’t have any obligation to USPS. FedEx can deliver USPS-related packages accidentally placed in a FedEx dropbox.
FedEx sometimes delivers packages on occasion, according to anecdotal evidence.
The following are possible outcomes.
Whatever happens, don’t worry – it is not FedEx practice to just toss out boxes that have found their way to the wrong shipper.
FedEx, USPS, and UPS should not be regarded as interchangeable shipping companies.
FedEx Can Send You A Return to the USPS
But there’s a catch: make sure you put your returns in FedEx dropboxes. These were back then, when FedEx Smartpost and USPS collaborated.
Smartpost is no longer functional as of March 2021, as FedEx dropped that part of their partnership and rebranded their local delivery as FedEx Ground Economy.
Even the SmartPost Hubs, which are the final destinations for the packages before being transferred to USPS, have disappeared.
It is very probable that USPS returns cannot be sent via FedEx. Or, the return process will take longer because FedEx must turn over the parcel to USPS in a different manner.
FedEx to Deliver USPS Postal Boxes
FedEx will treat the USPS package as a FedEx shipment.
SurvivalFreedom.com claims that the answer is “no”. According to some anecdotal evidence I have found – maybe, under very special circumstances.
But, FedEx won’t deliver USPS-made packages. That is my best guess. Although they share certain services, the two companies operate independently.
Furthermore, it’s actually illegal for anyone other than the resident and the postal carrier to put anything inside the mailbox at any given residence.
FedEx couriers aren’t going to be out there regularly committing federal crime.
However, mix-ups do happen. But if FedEx is treated as an interchangeable company and USPS, then you will regret it.
FedEx Will Deliver a USPS Label
FedEx is unlikely to deliver any package with USPS markings.
FedEx is a company with a bottom line – and they aren’t going to make any money doing the Postal Service’s work for them.
Your best-case scenario is that FedEx will get the package to USPS, and your recipient will experience a bit of a delay as a result.
Our posts include information on whether USPS reuses tracking number, if USPS agovernmental agency, and if USPS forwards RIS & other government mail.
FedEx does not make a practice of handling USPS mailpieces, although there are anecdotal stories of them doing so.
Many of the problems surrounding these shippers stem from their current partnership.
Fedex allows me to return an Usps parcel
You can drop your package at one of 63,000+ locations. U.S. Postal Service tenders. Customers can leave their returns package in the post office’s collection box.
Fedex Can Use Usps Packaging
FedEx can’t use any USPS boxes. However, technically it’s possible by using a FedEx shipping address. Use a FedEx box if you decide to use it. Make sure that you include all USPS markings and old barcodes.
Fedex sends you a package of usps.
Yes. In the spirit of cooperation, the package will be taken to the post office and the USPS will call FedEx to pick it up. FedEx may be able to deliver packages to FedEx if the postal carrier delivers the package to the FedEx local office.
What Kind Of Boxes Does Fedex Accept?
If the boxes you receive are strong and unaffected with all flaps intact, then your packaging may be used. If you are using chipboard boxes for gift or shoe boxes then make sure to pack them into a corrugated envelope. For heavier items, double-wall boxes are recommended.
