Evanston Public Library would like to present the incredible results of our 101 Great Books & Kids committee. 2020 proved to have been a challenging year. The pandemic that closed down our library in March also meant all books we wanted to read were kept away. Jessica Iverson’s amazing efforts ensured that deliveries to every household were safe and effective. The committee ended up having read more books than ever before.
Today’s list is a testament to the dedication of the people of this committee. If you are interested in any of these titles, be sure to visit our library. They represent some of the best books of the year and should not be missed.

Evanston Public Library, while I am not one to boast about it, is THE place for the BEST list of books recommended to children. Yes, New York does have its list. But I bet you won’t find that level of dedication and love on ours. EPL employees spend 10 months reading children’s literature. It would be overwhelming to see the sheer magnitude of this. We then reduced them to just 101 in October so you can have great gift books to give to your children.
